I often find myself caught up in the wonderful world I’ve cultivated over the past fifteen years of amazing cuisine, outstanding vino and personalities larger than life. It’s nonetheless humbling to realize that it’s a rare reality. I constantly have to remind myself when I’m selecting experiences to post that I’m extremely blessed and lucky to experience a different kind of beauty – – one that is intrinsic and enduring. Be it Michelin starred or not, I’ve never met a stranger, and I’m always up for securing yet another memorable experience wherever I feel welcomed and at home.
This past late May and early June I returned to Europe to revisit several friends who work at several of my favorite restaurants where excellence is the mission. During this return, everyone unbelievably managed to step it up a notch. What seems to be the norm continues to mystify me as perfection is somehow surpassed, and the ones responsible for setting new heights remain humble and hospitable. They are consummate professionals, and serve as role models to everyone in any service industry.
I’m thrilled to add two more to my treasure chest – – Don Alfonso in Sorrento, Italy and Les Tablettes in Paris, France. I strongly encourage those of you desiring exceptional cuisine and service fueled by precision and passion to go and experience the “phenomenal” culinary artistry.
From Shangri-La in Paris, to Caesar Augustus in Anacapri and back to Paris at the Saint James, this return to France and Italy was simply magical. I shall post my experiences over the next several weeks and strongly urge you to visit the places I’ve been, eat the scrumptious cuisine I’ve eaten, and meet my dear friends whose passions fuel their artistry.
Enjoy the preview of what’s to come!
