Arriving at Atto with great anticipation is an understatement. I was beyond excited to experience the cuisine of famed Chef Vito Mollica and to meet him.
The following review from The Michelin Guide is the perfect glimpse into this wonderful and exceptional dining experience – – Ahhhhh, but to be there in-person and to meet Chef Mollica is beyond verbal or written praise.
“One Star: High quality cooking
Behind the cathedral in Florence, this gourmet restaurant is housed in the Corte degli Imperatori at Palazzo Portinari, once the residence of the Salviati family. Here, chef Vito Mollica delights guests with culinary creations that focus on the sea and unusual combinations that come as a pleasant surprise. The ingredients are of the highest quality, from the fragrant home-made bread to the highly distinctive first courses, plus there’s an excellent choice of olive oils (mainly Tuscan and Umbrian). Meals are served in a dining room adorned with original frescoes depicting episodes from the Odyssey, alongside scenes of daily life in the 16C, while the gentle bubbling of a fountain provides a pleasant background soundtrack. The exceptionally professional service enhance this sublime experience that combines artistry and gastronomy.”
I hope the snapshot of my first visit and the review above excites and inspire you to add this one to your must visit list. This was an unforgettable experience as I allowed myself to fully enjoy the experience minus the distraction of taking notes.

Now that I’ve relived that gastronomic adventure, reservations have been made and I’m excited and pleased to say, I will be arriving very soon. I promise to be a little more studious with my note taking and yes, a little more consumed by this amazing experience that awaits me. Chef Mollica, see you in a few days!!!
