I decided the first posting of the New Year should focus on the defining luxurious experience I encountered upon moving to Washington DC in 1999. This experience set the course of what has become a life long exploration into fine dining and the finer things in life. It all started at The Hay Adams. Not only does this exceptional Leading Hotels of the World property define and gracefully execute the standards I’ve come to enjoy and expect but, it also maintains and judicially exudes the right amount of formal service to create a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.
With the noted level of superior service and exceptional food close at hand I set my sights on what turned out to be an unforgettable Inaugural brunch. I’m two blocks away from the White House at the corner of 16th & K. It’s 11:20 a.m. and I’m right on time for my 11:30 a.m. reservation. Do enjoy the sights that awaited me and the ones that are waiting for you. As stated below, under the leadership of Hans Bruland, The Hay Adams is and will remain a destination spot for those in need of opulence and refinement.
January 20, 2013 – The Inaugural Brunch

It was now 3:00 p.m. and I had the good fortune of spending time with my dear friend Mr. Hans Bruland, Vice President and General Manager of The Hay Adams. Since knowing Hans and spending time at The Hay Adams, I’ve never encountered anything less than perfection. His personal style, professionalism and sagacious palate is the benchmark of excellence and is seen and experienced throughout The Hay Adams.
With an eye always on service and attention to the overall culture of fine dining establishments, it’s always an interesting comparison to see if what’s at the top trickles down. So hats off to Hans and the entire staff for creating a seamless and professional flow of service. I also want to give a very special thank you to Khoa, Efrain and Geovanny for their outstanding service. See you all again, very soon.

After another round of Champagne, brunch was topped off by a visit to the rooftop for one of Washington DC’s most coveted views:

The reason DC was the place to be this past weekend!!!!!
