Caesar Augustus

08/24/13

Three months out and Alessandro from Caesar Augustus was correct as he heard the Bay of Capri calling for a return.  It was Alessandro and Lucia who invited us into Caesar Augustus’ oasis of luxury and natural beauty in early June and it is the two of them who help to organize a week of renewal and exploration.  From Capri to Almafi the experience is one I wish every seeker of La Dolce Vita will experience as they pursue the pleasure that come with living a good and just life.  The weather in June was not the best.  It was  slightly cold and rainy which hampered our return to several of our favorite spots: Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria, Il San Pietro, and Santa Caterina, but this time the weather was grand and we managed to add a few new spots.

Discovering exclusive and refined establishments positioned in some of the most beautiful spots in the Mediterranean has truly enhanced my pursuit and enjoyment of the good life.  Thank goodness Palm Beach is only a two hour flight away – – one can not do this every three months.

Being greeted by Alessandro and escorted to lunch

We finally made our way to lunch and was ready for what we knew was going to be heavenly.  Our last several stops here served us well with respect to Chef Eduardo Vuolo’s cuisine and today would be a small reminder of what was in store for the next several days.

Lunch:

Caesar Augustus
La Terrazza di Lucullo – Menu

Caesar Augustus
Pasquale presenting one of his favorite Sauvignon Blancs

Caesar Augustus
St. Michael Eppan 2012 – Sauvignon Blanc

Caesar Augustus
The Pour, The Sniff, The Swirl and my palate being pleased

This selection was ideal for our entrees.  The mineral qualities and elegant acidity worked in perfect harmony with Chef Vuolo’s judicious seasoning.

Caesar Augustus
Penne Pasta with a little Parmigiano-Reggiano

Caesar Augustus
Lemon chicken and fresh spinach

The rest of the day was spent at the pool, then sunset and dinner.
