Meadowood, Napa Valley

Leaving Washington DC for California’s wine country is always exciting and worthwhile.  This trip to the west coast was all about the most exquisite food, wine and lodging. Staying at the Ritz Carlton in downtown San Francisco proved to be the ideal transition for one of the most sublime lodging experience I’ve had since Les Crayères in Champagne – – Meadowood.

Located in St. Helena, California, Meadowood seamlessly blends elegance, luxury and nature to create a harmonious environment where food, wine and relaxation caters to your every need.  From Silverado Trail, the olive tree lined Meadowood Road which turns into Meadowood lane, leads you into nature’s perfect undisturbed beauty.  With manicured cottages nestled throughout the property, a feeling of shared sophistication yet, intimate space is the lasting impression.   One of the added advantages at Meadowood for all you wine lovers is master sommelier Gilles de Chambure.  I decided to take the Undiscovered Gems of Napa Valley class, and tasted some amazing varietals you normally would not associate with California.   Ahhhhh….the cuisine.  Although Chef Christopher Kostow was off-site, the kitchen was flawless.    If I could only have the lobster and morels stuffed with sweetbreads again and again, I do believe I’d move.  No camera for dinner but, breakfast on the terrace was the right thing to do.  Your chance to experience luxury in the most relaxing and natural environment is waiting……GO!!!!
