I recently spent a few days in the “Windy City” and fell in love with The Waldorf Astoria. Tucked away off East Walton in the Gold Coast district, this quiet and most elegant slice of luxury is the ideal spot if one craves the spirit of Paris in and around Place Vendôme. The courtyard entrance immediately removes you from all signs of a hurried and rushed life into the serene and tranquil surroundings we all long for when the best things in life are calling.
The grand entrance holds your attention and emotes sophistication, refined elegance and the right amount of new world glam without being over pronounced or pretentious – – I felt right at home.

Before check-in, my appetite made an appearance, (surprised???) and demanded its needs be met – – Balsan, thank you!!! This comfortable and relaxing bistro was the ideal spot to settle into and feed the hunger. As you know, this palate of mine will stop at nothing to devour the best of the best and I have to say this lunch accompanied by the delicious Cliff Lede Sauvignon Blanc was PERFECT!!!!

Now that the beast within had found comfort, access was granted and it was time to head to the room
All checked-in and this spacious, quiet and warm suite welcomed my arrival in the most satisfying manner – – the right temperature, aroma, lighting and music all in their respective modes created the ideal atmosphere.

My brief, but most satisfying visit to Chicago could not have been more gratifying thanks to the sincere welcome by the entire staff and their above and beyond professionalism and hospitality – – and this is coming from a Southerner who knows hospitality inside and out. So, as the saying goes – – Beauty isn’t for everyone or everything but, if one possesses it, one has to work at it. A special thank you to Mr. John Walls, Director — Brand Public Relations and Luxury Brands, your working at it has and is paying off.
Looking forward to the return.
